Cami Dress: Top Shop // Turtle neck: &Other Stories // Heels: NA-KD // Bag: ANY DI
I’m not the type that follows trends, quite the opposite. Mostly because I don’t like being told what to wear. I can’t remember too many times when I wasn’t dressed appropriately for the occasion and even in those few times that might have been, I was rather under or over dressed but was not completely off. That’s proof enough that I don’t need somebody dictating what I should be wearing.
When the white tee under the cami dress/top was born I couldn’t decide if I like it or not. I’m more of a late adopter myself, I like to stick to my personal style and take all trends with a grain of salt. So instead of jumping on the wagon I decide to give it my own twist by replacing the basic white cotton tee with a black turtle neck and the velvet dress with this delicate cami dress. I love the lack of contrast in this outfit. The turtle neck moves the outfit away from the casual zone giving it a slightly more sophisticated touch without being too much for day time.
The key is interpreting the trend in your own way rather than just adopting it as it is. Make the trend work for you rather than being its victim. Like this, you’ll look up to date without losing your personal style, and isn’t that what we all want? If you need even more proof here is another personal interpretation of the same trend.
If you want to have a strong personal style stay away from adopting trends easily, cherry pick those that truly fit your style and then make them yours by including a personal touch.
